Story
The Citadel Group Ltd takes great pride in sponsoring the Soldier On One Foot Forward walk in 2013. We are looking to you for your support in raising funds for this worthy cause.
Soldier On is about Australians coming together to show their support for our physically and psychologically wounded – we will always have their backs. It’s about giving those who have served our country the dignity they deserve and the chance to do and be whatever they choose through providing access to inspirational activities, supporting rehabilitation, and providing opportunities that empower individuals.
They will achieve this by:
- Enhancing Australia’s capacity to care for its wounded
- Inspiring wounded soldiers and their communities
- Empowering our wounded to achieve their goals and dreams
Using these three pillars, Soldier On aims to change the conversation around wounded soldiers in Australia, helping everyday Australians understand the effects of both physical and mental wounds on a soldier’s personal and professional life. We want to make sure wounded soldiers are able to overcome the obstacles posed by their injuries, enjoy happy, fulfilling lives and feel proud for the sacrifices they have made.
As part of Soldier On’s Inspire pillar, Liam Haven (who was blinded in 2008 when a roadside bomb exploded while he was on a tour of duty in Iraq), will be walking from Sydney to Canberra...via Wollongong. Liam is doing this to raise money and awareness for Soldier On and Guide Dogs Victoria, as well as to inspire others through demonstrating that disabilities do not have to hold you back. On the walk, he will be accompanied by Omen, his faithful Guide Dog, and walkers from The Citadel Group Limited. This will not be a walk in the park the team is expecting to achieve circa of 60 kilometres per day.

Soldier On
At Soldier On, our mission is to work side by side with those who serve and protect Australia, and their families, HELPing them to secure their future.
Our services aim to HELP individuals build resilience and create, and expand, meaningful connections with family, community and employers through:
Health and wellbeing – Psychology, social activities and programs, sporting activities and programs and service initiatives.
Employment – Transition services, employment support, career development assistance
Learning – education and training programs, vocational training
Participation – social activities and programs focused on connections with family, friends and the broader community, volunteering and sports programs.
In order to achieve this mission, Soldier On has a team of amazing staff who dedicate their time to delivering services directly to service personnel and their families. We have centres in the ACT, Concord NSW, Parkville VIC and offices in Perth WA, Adelaide SA, Currumbin QLD, Newcastle NSW and Albury NSW. Our volunteer network and the generosity of the community, allows for activities and events to be held across the nation and support many service personnel and families outside of city areas.
Soldier On is not funded by government. It is thanks to corporate sponsors, trusts, philanthropic support and the generosity of the community, that enables us to provide services to those who need them.
